A major road running through Nottingham has been renamed in honour of the 453 members of the armed forces who died in Afghanistan. The campaign had been launched to rename the road, which will now be known as ‘Remembrance Way’. Dougie Pullen from Kimberley in Nottinghamshire was an Army reservist for 30 years and retired in 2008 suggested last October that the road should be renamed.

A service to mark 13 years of UK military operations in Afghanistan took place at St Paul’s Cathedral on Friday 13th March 2015. This Service was to honour the 453 Servicemen and women who lost their lives during the campaign. It has been a very busy period for the Royal Regiment.
A disbandment parade with the Welsh Gunners – 39 Regt RA – going into suspended animation.
Also, 19th Regiment Royal Artillery has marked a significant change to its structure with the placement of 52 (Niagara) Battery in to suspended animation with a parade at Bhurtpore Barracks, Tidworth.

It was with great sadness that the Regimental flag of the Welsh Gunners was lowered for the last time at Albemarle Barracks signalling the disbandment of the Regiment.
Over 300 officers and soldiers from 39 Regiment Royal Artillery, which is known as the Welsh Gunners, were joined by their families and veterans for a parade and flag lowering ceremony at the barracks.
