On 11th April the Woolwich Garrison Church Trust hosted a Service to dedicate new gates to replace the wooden barrier that obscured the interior from passers-by. On the 14th April 2018, almost 100 years on from The Great War soldiers from 16 Regiment Royal Artillery, Standards from the Royal Artillery Association, The Lord Lieutenant of Kent -The Viscount De L’Isle, MBE and The Worshipful Mayor – Cllr Julie Soyke paid Tribute to Major Eric Dougall VC MC and his incredible bravery. Sgt Sam Gowin of 16 Regiment Royal Artillery will represent England in the Commonwealth Games 2018. The Gold Coast awaits but in the meantime we caught up with him to talk about how he became an elite sportsman for the Royal Artillery.
